A new studio…a new adventure.
This is the place where all of it begins, The Mixed Media Jewelry Studio. The ‘Studio’ is actually a house that was a converted recording studio. Now, it's our very convenient studio, right next door to our home.
Now for the tour:

This is part of the metalsmithing area. Right now the bench is set up for chain and frames.
From here, I can see my back deck and squirrel feeders.
Here is another view of the room. |
This is my lampworking area. This is just about as clean as it gets. I got my Bobcat back, yippy, so the other torches are in storage now. I finally got the bead door installed on the SC-2 kiln.
Here is also a picture of the Creation Station. It's a wonderful invention!!! If you need one, call Blue Moon Glassworks at 512-380-0770. Jim or Rose will happy to ship one to you. |
Another view of the torcher chamber.
Yes, I am a tool and frit junkie.
Here's a side view...my stringer mess area. I've got to get this organized sometime. It just seems that I never have the time to get everything done. Isn't that the way of life?

This is a view from the door. See the walls? This is a vocals booth. The studio used to be a old recording studio and this is a sound proof room. Now this is my glass closet.
The cane is stored in shoe racks. Two fit perfectly in the glass closet. It keeps the cane mostly dust-free.
I think it's time for me to clean this area up a bit.
Here is the wire and chain maille area. Normally you would see Bob sitting here but he's the taking the pictures.

Ahh...the jump ringer!!!!
What a wonderful invention, I would fully recommend it to everyone that makes jewelry. |
Here's the kitchen that is a make shift cleaning area and rock storage area.
What is wonderful about this studio over others that we have had, it has a frig and plenty of storage. |

Here's the old mud room, that is now the lapidary area. The storage in this room is to die for. To the left here, is the handy-dandy slab saw used to cut rocks into slabs of rock. Messy, dirty and slow work.
The Genie, used for cab polishing. The fun part of cabbing. Take a slab, tirm in close to size and shape, and then slowly grid and polish until the stone is the size, shape, and beauty desired.

Here is the trimsaw used to cut those slabs down to size.
See the canvas drop cloth? Well, lapidary isn't a clean sport, that's why it's housed in the 'mud room'. |
Here is the bead room. I keep my beads organized in Elfa units. They are sorted mostly by color.
The window looks out over the lampworking area.

I'm currently working on sterling finding organization. This is going to be a work in progress.
This is where I make the finished jewelry pieces. As you can tell, it is never neat and tidy. Nor do I think it ever will be.
This is the end of the studio tour. Hope you enjoyed looking around.
